Honoring Fukushima Survivors: From the Heart

Date: March 11, 2012

Time: 2:00 pm

Location: Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa

Mission Plaza, Chorro Street at Monterey

San Luis Obispo

On the one-year anniversary of the tragic events in Fukushima, San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace invites members of the public to gather to remember and to express our support for the survivors. The disaster triggered by a combination of the unanticipated size of the earthquake and the ensuing tsunami is not over. Radiation releases from the failed nuclear plants and radioactive waste storage pools continue to contaminate the land, food supply, air and ocean. Close to 100,000 people are still displaced and many more are suffering since the agricultural and fishing industries in which they worked have been decimated.
· Works of art created at the March 2nd Art After Dark event, 6 – 9 pm at THE SALON ON MONTEREY, 1435 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo will be displayed.

· Seshen, who moved here from Japan shortly after the March 11 Fukushima disaster, will share her observations and perspective.

· Geologist Eric Layman will give startling information regarding local earthquake faults and how they impact Diablo Canyon Nuclear safety.

· Music will be presented by Prey 4 Phyre, a duo of singers and guitar.
